VanikOS was not built in a boardroom. It was built in the middle of running actual stores - managing GST audits, handling stock shortages, and billing customers in places where the internet cuts out every other day. Every feature in VanikOS exists because we lived the problem ourselves.
We got tired of bad software
Our team spent years running convenience stores - at petrol pump forecourts, at highway stopovers, and at tourist spots in the Himalayas. We tried every billing and inventory tool available in India.
None of them worked the way real retail works. They crashed when the internet disappeared in Ladakh. They had no concept of multiple stores. They were built for accountants sitting in offices - not for the person managing 200 SKUs and 50 transactions an hour at a busy forecourt.
So in 2023, we stopped looking for the right software and started building it. VanikOS began as an internal tool. Within a year it was handling thousands of transactions across multiple stores. In 2025 we opened it to other retailers. In 2026 we launched publicly.
